FREDERICK, Md.--Senior Danielle Hunt and freshman Emily Maerz of the Hood College women's tennis team became the first Hood College doubles team to garner all-Capital Athletic Conference accolades with their selection to the second team last week.
Hunt, from Glen Burnie, Md., and Maerz, from Myersville, Md., combined to post a record of 8-3 at second doubles this spring. The tandem also defeated four of their six CAC rivals on the year.
Hunt and Maerz bested doubles teams from York College (Pa.) (8-3), St. Mary's College (Md.) (8-3), Stevenson University (8-0) and Wesley College (8-3) during the regular season and picked up another win over the Wolverine duo in the first round of the CAC tournament, 8-2.
The Hood women finished with a overall record of 8-10 and went 3-3 in CAC matches. The Blazers also won a CAC playoff match for the first time since joining the conference in 2007-08 when they ousted Wesley, 8-1, on April 17.
