Blazer Women Fall to UMW in CAC Semis

FREDERICKSBURG, Va.--The No. 16 University of Mary Washington Eagles (14-7) topped the Hood College women's tennis team (8-10) by a score of 9-0 Monday in the semifinal round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament.

UMW, which has won all but two CAC titles since the conference began in 1991, earned straight set victories over the Blazers in all six singles matches and swept the three doubles contests to advance to Thursday's championship match against Salisbury University.

Jillian Elkaim and Emily Schrodel gave Courtney Goimarac and Katie Schafer a good fight at first doubles before falling, 8-5. Emily Maerz dropped a narrow 6-4, 6-2 decision to Michelle Meadows at second singles.
