Women's Tennis Completes Dominating Day One at AWCC Championship

BALTIMORE, Md.--The Hood College women's tennis team had an impressive semifinal showing Saturday at the 2007 Atlantic Women's College Championships.
Hood, which has won six of the past seven AWCC titles, placed five players in the singles flight championships and all three doubles tandems will battle for conference supremacy Sunday.
Christine Ocampos-Barry bested Trinity's A. Martynova, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1, while Stephanie Garrett cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at third singles over Chatham's Becca Minges. Laura Wanner, Caitlin Erickson and Dani Hunt all earned straight set victories as well at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
In doubles action, Larisa Buriak and Hunt topped Wells' May and Miller, 8-3, at first doubles. Wanner and Ocampos-Barry dispatched Chatham's Moritz and Ceraso, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles while Garrett and Erickson also rolled to an 8-0 victory over Roberts and Ramierez of Trinity.
