AWCC Seeds Announced for Tennis Championship


BALTIMORE, Md.--The Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference announced the names of tennis players who earned the top seeds in this weekend's AWCC championship.

The seeded players will receive byes to the semifinals, and the other three competitors will be drawn at the coaches meeting Saturday.

Five Blazers earned byes in the singles flights and all three of Hood's doubles tandems earned one of the top two spots.

The following structure will be in place for each flight:

Quarterfinals: No. 4 vs. No. 5
Semifinals: No. 3 vs. No. 2; No. 1 vs. winner of quarterfinal

Hood (8-10, 4-0 AWCC) is seeking its seventh AWCC crown in the past eight years after a runner-up finish last spring. Tournament play gets underway from the College of Notre Dame (Md.) Saturday at 9 a.m.
