FREDERICK, Md.--Junior Stephanie Garrett of the Hood College women's tennis team earned two weekly awards for her outstanding play last week.

Garrett was selected as both the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week and Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference Player of the Week as announced by conference officials.

A native of West Friendship, Md., Garrett was instrumental in a 3-0 week for Hood last week. She was undefeated in three singles and three doubles matches on the week, helping the Blazers end a six-match losing skid.

On Tuesday, Garrett downed Notre Dame's Marie Claire Santiago, 6-3, 6-1, at third singles and teamed with Caitlin Erickson to upend Allison Najewicz and Yorie Watanabe at No. 3 doubles, 8-1.

Then Saturday Garrett beat Lincoln University's Tiffany Stewart at No. 4 singles, 8-1, and Alisa Davis at first singles, 8-1. She also earned a pair of No. 1 doubles victories vs. two Lincoln tandems (8-1 and by default).

Garrett is currently 7-5 in singles play and 5-6 in doubles on the season.

The Blazers look to extend their winning streak to four in a row Tuesday against CAC rival Salisbury University at the Hood College Tennis Courts.
