FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's tennis team defeated the College of Notre Dame (Md.) 7-2 Tuesday in its Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference's opener.

With the victory, Hood (3-8, 1-0 AWCC) avenged a defeat to the Gators in last spring's AWCC Championship and snapped a six-match losing skid.

The Blazers started strong, capturing two of the three doubles matches. Hood then triumphed in five singles matches, four of which came in straight sets.

Hood returns to action Tuesday, April 3, against Salisbury University at the Hood College Tennis Courts.
