Women's Swimmers Drop 136-49 Decision to Mary Washington

FREDERICK, Md.--The University of Mary Washington women's swim team (9-2, 6-0 CAC) defeated Hood College (4-5, 1-5 CAC) by a final of 136-49 Saturday.
Katie Hitchens was a double winner in the sprints, capturing the 50 free (25.75) and the 100 free (58.47). Amy Kaufman won the 400 individual medley (5:04.38) and was second in the 500 free (5:38.34).
Ashley Garyn placed fourth in 200 free (2:14.85) and was sixth in the 500 free (6:08.41). Melissa Masino finished fifth in 200 free (2:29.87) and sixth in the 100 fly (1:19.52). Katie Reichard took fifth in 50 free (34.24). Kim Wolfgang placed fifth in the 400 individual medley (5:11.03) and third in the 100 back (1:07.59). Erica Hamor finished sixth in the 400 individual medley (5:15.28) and fourth in the 100 fly (1:09.13). Meaghan Verleysen was fifth in the 100 back (1:19.02) and fourth in the 100 breast (1:29.16).
The Blazers next travel to St. Mary's College (Md.) Feb. 15-17 for the Capital Athletic Conference championships.
