Blazer Women Earn 122-71 Triumph over Penn State-Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa.--The Hood College women's swim team (4-4) won all nine individual events and both relays in a 122-71 victory over Penn State University-Altoona Sunday.
Four Blazers doubled in the win. Erica Hamor won the 1000 free (12:16.16) and the 100 breast (1:18.95). Amy Kaufman captured the 200 individual medley (2:28.84) and the 100 fly (1:07.76). Ashley Garyn bested the field in the 500 free (6:06.94) and the 200 free (2:15.90). Katie Hitchens took first in the 50 free (26.06) and the 100 free (59.69).
Kim Wolfgang won the 100 back (1:07.16) and finished second in the 100 fly (1:11.70). Meaghan Verleysen finished third in the 200 individual medley (3:00.14) and fifth in the 100 free (1:10.39). Melissa Masino came in third in the 1000 free (13:58.91) and the 500 free (6:38.63). Katie Reichard placed fourth in the 50 free (35.99) and third in the 100 back (1:18.71).
The 200 medley relay (Wolfgang, Hamor, Kaufman, Garyn) and the 200 free relay (Verleysen, Masino, Reichard, Hitchens) squads were also victorious.
The Blazers have one final tuneup before the Capital Athletic Conference championships (Feb. 15-17 at St. Mary's College of Maryland) when they square off against the University of Mary Washington Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hood Aquatics Center.
