Women's Swimming Tops Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, Va.--The Hood College women's swim team defeated Mary Baldwin College, 134-70, in an Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference meet Wednesday evening.

The Blazers improve to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the AWCC. Hood captured 10 of the 14 events to secure the victory.

Amy Kaufman and Sarah Haney were both triple winners for the Blazers. Kaufman took top honors in the 200 free (2:25.15), the 400 free (5:11.71) and the 200 back (2:48.71), while Haney clocked in ahead of the field in the 100 breast (1:27.00), the 100 free (1:09.78) and the 100 fly (1:25.62).

Ashley Garyn picked up a pair of victories in the 800 free (11:40.21) and the 100 back (1:27.78).

Additionally, Erica Hamor won the 200 fly (2:59.37) and Katie Hitchens set the pace in the 50 free (30.93).

Hood's men's and women's swim teams will travel to York, Pa., Saturday for a 1 p.m. meet with the Spartans.
