Brown, Kaufman Lead Women's Swimming Past College of Notre Dame
FREDERICK, Md.--Sophomore Lenore Brown won three events and
fellow sophomore Amy Kaufman won two as the Hood women's swimming
team downed visiting College of Notre Dame (Md.) 100-91 Saturday
afternoon to complete a second straight undefeated season in the
Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference.
The Blazers (5-2, 4-0 AWCC) won eight of the 11 events, including
the first six to start the meet.
Brown teamed with freshman Kara Cruice, freshman Sarah Haney and
sophomore Katie Hitchens to capture the 400-yard medley relay in
4:43.92 and later picked up individual victories in the 200-yard
individual medley (2:28.94) and the 200-yard backstroke
(2:27.94).
Kaufman won the 1,650-yard freestyle in 19:25.14 as well as the
500-yard freestyle in 5:47.41.
Also posting victories for the Blazers were sophomore Chloe Gandy
in the 50-yard freestyle (28.50), Hitchens in the 200-yard
freestyle (2:20.88) and Haney in the 200-yard butterfly
(2:49.14).
Both the Hood men's and women's teams are back in action Dec. 2 and
3 at the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jacket Invitational.
