ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--The Hood College women's swim team completed its second day of competition at the 2012 Capital Athletic Conference championship Saturday at St. Mary's College (Md.).
Arielle Harding was the Blazers' top finisher in the morning swim earning a fifth-place slot in the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.43. She secured a fifth-place finish overall in the evening championship final in 1:09.46.
Hayley Rogers (1:03.93) and Theresa Schwarzwalder (1:06.34) qualified 10th and 15th, respectively, in the 100 back, both with season-bests in the prelims. Rogers won the consolation final later that evening with a time of 1:03.81, missing the school record by a scant 0.06 seconds. Schwarzwalder was 16th in the consolation heat in 1:06.92.
Andrea Haines (1:21.05) and Catherine Brown (1:36.54) notched season-bests in the 100 breast, while Daniela Mittelkamp came in 23rd in 100 fly with a clocking of 1:12.16.
Four Blazers registered their top times of the year in the 200 free, including Lindsay Cronin (2:09.91), Tairen Lamkin (2:17.77), Aleece Groom (2:18.38) and Emily Schrodel (2:23.13).
The 800 free relay team of Harding, Schwarzwalder, Cronin and Rogers took sixth in 8:37.56.
The Blazers sit in sixth in the team standings with 123 points. Day three of the weekend event is slated to begin at 10 a.m. with preliminary action from St. Mary's (Md.).
