FREDERICK, Md.- The Hood College women's soccer team battled their way to a scoreless draw with the Mount Aloysius Mounties in the season opener for both teams.

Inside the Box Score

  • Freshman ReidAnn Sever notched her first career shutout in her first start as a Blazer, denying six chances.
  • Senior midfielder Alyssa Nubgaard led the attack for the Blazers with five shots, including two shots on goal.
  • The lead attacker for the Mounties was Amanda Brancato with three shots, two on target.

Game Recap

  • The Mounties seemed to control much of the action early with five shots to Hood's one in the first 45 minutes of the game.
  • Hood was saved when Sam Torrenti sent a shot that just bounced off the post in the 53rd minute.
  • The best chance for Hood came just one minute later when Nubgaard was fed a ball on the breakaway and hit a shot that was turned away by Mountie keeper Cardoso-Bastos.
  • The rest of the second half included eight shots, five from Hood.
  • Overtime saw just three shots, none of which found the back of the net.
