Women's Soccer Blanked by No. 8 Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Hood College women's soccer team dropped a 6-0 final in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play to No. 8 Messiah.

  • Rachel Knoebel made 20 saves for the Blazers. It eclipsed her previous career-high of 17, set in the season-opener against Catholic. 

How it Happened

  • Sunny Gelnovatch scored twice in the first half as the Falcons led 2-0.
  • Hood's defense managed to slow the Falcons in the first half, but Messiah broke out in the second half. Gelnovatch finished her hat trick after Olivia Snare opened the second half scoring to make it 4-0 in the 59th minute. Julia Kyne and Megan Mansfield capped the scoring down the stretch. 

Notes

  • Hood is 3-11-2 overall and 0-6-1 in the MAC Commonwealth.
  • Messiah improved to 14-2 and 7-0 in conference action.

Hood hosts Widener in the season finalé on October 29. The match will serve as Senior Day for the Blazers.
