Norris Notches School-Record Four Assists in 8-0 Drubbing of Trinity (D.C.)

ARLINGTON, Va.--Sophomore Sam Norris of the Hood College women's soccer team tallied six points on a goal and four assists to lead the Blazers (1-1) to a lopsided 8-0 victory over Trinity University (D.C.) in the second round of the Marymount University Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Norris' four assists set a single-game school record, eclipsing the previous mark of three set by five different Blazers (most recently Cara Jordan vs. Wilson College on Sept. 25, 2008). Norris also chalked up her first goal of 2012 and the second of her Blazer career off a free kick in the 39th minute.

Amanda Hutzell and Jessie Herbert netted two goals apiece, while Amy Madert, Dorothy Hearn and Lia Miller also found the back of the net for Hood. Kristen Byers, Aimee Smith and Julia Torano registered assists in the victory as the Blazers overwhelmed the Tigers on offense, outshooting their former rivals from the AWCC, 49-0. Hood led 6-0 at halftime.

Leah Norris was credited with her first collegiate shutout but was not tested on the day in net.

Hood makes its home debut Tuesday against Bridgewater College. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. from Thomas Athletic Field.
