Markovich Scores Twice in 2-1 Win Over Trinity (D.C.)

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Junior Stevey Markovich of the Hood College women's soccer team (4-12) scored both goals in a 2-1 nonconference victory over Trinity University (D.C.) (6-6) Monday afternoon.

Markovich scored the first of her two tallies in the 19th minute when she booted the ball into the lower left corner of the net. She then followed with another unassisted blast in the 30th minute into the upper right corner. Trinity cut the deficit in half when Ana Campo finished a pass from Kiauna Hemsley.

The stingy Blazer defense did not allow a Tiger shot the entire second half and hung on for the narrow victory. Kirsten Cacciola had four saves for Hood while Courtney Haines picked up eight for the Tigers.

The Blazers look to extend their winning streak to three in a row Wednesday at Capital Athletic Conference rival Mary Washington at 4 p.m.
