Blazers Fall to Mary Washington, 3-0

FREDERICK, Md.--Freshman keeper Rachelle Buhrman made a season-high 14 saves but the Hood College women's soccer team (4-9, 2-4, CAC) was unable to find the back of the net against the University of Mary Washington Eagles (8-3-2, 5-1-1 CAC) in a 3-0 defeat Tuesday at Thomas Athletic Field.
The Eagles, who put the skids on Hood's three-game win streak, scored a pair of first-half goals less than five minutes apart and added a third tally in the 85th minute to run their unbeaten streak to four. Kate Parvin, Sarah Tryon and Molly McCluskey all scored for the Eagles, who outshot Hood 27-8.
Buhrman's 14 saves eclipsed her previous high of 13 set against York College (Pa.) Sept. 5.
Laura McCarthy saved two shots for UMW, one by Colleen Cruice and the other by Courtney DeSisto.
Hood returns to action Monday against Penn State-Harrisburg in a nonleague game at Thomas Athletic Field at 3 p.m.
