Frostburg Nips Women's Soccer, 2-1

FROSTBURG, Md.--Freshman Alexa Hubicki netted her first
collegiate goal but it was not enough as the Hood College women's
soccer team (1-7) fell to the host Frostburg State University
Bobcats (5-2), 2-1, Wednesday in nonconference action.
Hubicki's first career tally came just 4:32 into the contest to
stake the visitors to the early 1-0 advantage. But the Blazers were
outshot 17-4 on the night as the Bobcats scored two first-half
goals of their own which would eventually stand as the final
margin. Heather Fleishell and Lauren Russell found the back of the
net for Frostburg.
The two squads met for the first time since 1996 and the third
time in series history. The Bobcats, now winners of five straight,
had outscored Hood 18-1 in the previous two encounters.
Freshman keeper Rachelle Buhrman turned away seven shots in the
losing cause while Frostburg goalie Stephanie Gwinn made two
saves.
Hood has a week off before wrapping up its six-match road swing
Wednesday at Wesley College in a Capital Athletic Conference tilt
at 7 p.m.
