FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.--The Hood College women's soccer team (0-1) dropped a 5-0 decision to host Methodist University (1-0) Saturday in the season opener for both squads.

Whitney Roberson tallied a pair of goals for the Monarchs while Ashley Kolano, Michelle Anderson and Erica Nath also found the back of the net in the victory.

Freshman Rachelle Buhrman made her first career start in net for the Blazers and racked up six saves. Methodist keepers Kasey Nichols and Emily Stratton each played one half and combined for three saves in the shutout as the Monarchs outshot Hood 16-4.

The Blazers return to action Sunday at Greensboro College for a non-conference tilt at 1 p.m.
