Notre Dame Shuts Out Women's Soccer
BALTIMORE, Md.--In a matchup of the two top teams in the Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference, the Hood College women's soccer team saw its three-game win streak come to an end Wednesday afternoon as the College of Notre Dame (Md.) handed the Blazers their first league loss, a 6-0 decision in Baltimore.
Hood drops to 4-4-1 overall and 4-1-0 in the AWCC, while the Gators improve to 3-3-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
The Blazers managed just three shots on goal, two by reigning AWCC "Player of the Week" Whitney Boyer, but were unable to find the back of the net against Gator goalkeeper Courtney Zgraggen, who turned away all three Hood attempts.
Notre Dame's Stephani Jones recorded a hat trick and an assist in the Gator victory to power the hosts to a 5-0 halftime cushion.
Freshman goalie Nina Duron registered three saves in the losing effort for Hood.
The Blazers return to action Thursday, Oct. 5 hosting Goucher College for a non-league tilt at Thomas Athletic Field at 1 p.m.
