Women's Soccer Shuts Out Chatham, Stays Perfect in AWCC

WASHINGTON, Pa.--The Hood College women's soccer team remained perfect in Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference play this season with a 2-0 shutout of Chatham College Saturday afternoon at Washington & Jefferson College's Alexandre Field.

The Blazers (4-3-1, 4-0-0 AWCC) used an unassisted goal by freshman Brittany Hurt in the 32nd minute to take a 1-0 lead at the break.

Freshman Whitney Boyer completed the scoring when she found the net in the 73rd minute off an assist from senior Tamara Maggard. The goal was Boyer's team-leading ninth of the season and her eighth in Hood's last five games.

Freshman Nina Duron made two saves to record her third straight shutout and fourth of the year.

The Blazers return to action Wednesday at 4 p.m. when they visit College of Notre Dame (Md.) in a rematch of last season's AWCC championship match won by the Gators.
