Women's Soccer Edged by Waynesburg

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 non-conference contest to visiting Waynesburg College Tuesday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

The Blazers (1-3-1) fell behind early when Joanna Butterworth found the net in the second minute to give Waynesburg a 1-0 lead.

Hood pulled even in the 12th minute as freshman Whitney Boyer notched her team-leading third goal of the season off an assist from junior Kristina Rendon.

The score remained tied until tghe 81st minute when Butterworth tallied her second goal of the day off a feed from Julian Amato.

Paige Yeich worked a scoreless second half in goal to pick up the win. She made six saves.

Freshman Nina Duron made five saves for Hood, which held a commanding 19-8 advantage in shots.

The Blazers are back in action Wednesday, September 20 when they host Wilson at 4 p.m.
