BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - Hood College led 6-3 at the half, but Bryn Athyn opened the second half with six straight goals and went on to win 9-8.
Hood started out strong with a 5-2 run over the opening 15:09 of the game. Megan Feldtmose (Hereford, Pa. / Perkiomen) put the Blazers on the board less than a minute into the contest with a goal at 29:15. Shay Braithwaite (Montgomery Village, Md. / Watkins Mill) doubled the lead with a tally just over a minute later.
Haley Schmucker scored the Lions' first goal and Emma Goss tied the game at 2-2 with 22:19 to go. Braithwaite won the ensuing draw and got the ball to Taylor McGaughey (New Market, Md. / Oakdale), who passed to Ayer. The junior found the back of the net for a 3-2 lead just 13 seconds after Bryn Athyn tied the game.
Ayer assisted Kitzmiller on the Blazers' next score and Christina Murphy's (Denville, N.J. / Morris Knolls) goal with 14:51 to play put Hood ahead 5-2.
Schmucker brought the Lions within two, but a goal in the final minute by Ayer gave the Blazers a three-goal edge at the half.
Goss had three goals during Bryn Athyn's early second half comeback and Sierra Asplundh added two goals in the run.
Kitzmiller scored a pair of late goals for Hood.
Lauren Couch (Crownsville, Md. / Old Mill) had 14 saves and 13 ground balls.
McGaughey had five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Braithwaite had six draw controls.
Karla Hyatt needed just three saves in the win.
Goss scored four times for the Lions, while Schmucker netted three goals and an assist. Asplundh had two goals, six ground balls, and four caused turnovers.
The Blazers travel to Elizabethtown on March 25.
