Hood Falls to Washington and Jefferson, 12-5
WASHINGTON, Pa.—The Hood College women's lacrosse team (2-1) was defeated by Washington and Jefferson College (1-1) 12-5 in the squad's first loss of the season. The Blazers battled hard throughout, however they were unable to combat the balanced attack of the Presidents.
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Couch had a superb game with 20 saves on the afternoon for the blue and grey. Her 20 saves is now second in the record book for most saves in a single game. She constantly turned away the Presidents and showed real perseverance throughout.
Sophomore attacker Bailey Czech also had a stellar outing scoring three goals on three shots to lead the Blazer attack. Czech's three tallies up her season total to double-digits with ten for the campaign.
Junior attacker Megan Feldtmose scored Hood's first goal of the afternoon and assisted on another for two points in the game. Sophomore Ashley Kitzmiller rounded out the scoring for Hood with a second half goal for her sixth goal of the season. Kitzmiller along with Amy Eyler paced Hood in groundballs with three apiece.
Washington and Jefferson used the eight combined goals from Brittany Fradkin and Kelsey Kraus to stymie the Blazers. Hood worked hard all game and scored four second half goals, but was unable to overcome the early deficit.
Hood will return to action this Wednesday when the Blazers play host to Catonsville Community College at Thomas Athletic Field. The game will begin at 3 p.m.
