Noel Nets Hat Trick in Loss to St. Mary's

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--Sophomore Brandy Noel recorded a hat trick and freshman Kelsey Blackwell scored the first goals of her Blazer career but the Hood College women's lacrosse team (0-4, 0-3 CAC) fell to St. Mary's College (Md.) (3-2, 2-0 CAC) by a final of 23-5 Wednesday.
Hood scored on five of its seven shots on the day as the Blazers did all of their scoring in the first half.
Blackwell got the Blazers on the board at the 21:57 mark of the first half with an unassisted tally. Later in the half, Noel cashed in on two free position chances within a span of 57 seconds to cut the deficit to 8-3. Blackwell netted her second score off a feed from Lauren Perzan with 11:08 left in the first half. Noel rounded out the scoring for Hood with her third goal of the afternoon with 7:04 to go in the period.
The Seahawks kept the Blazers off the scoreboard in the second half. Lauren Lieb turned away 10 shots in the contest and now needs just six more to become Hood's all-time saves leader.
The Blazers travel to Chestnut Hill College Saturday for a nonconference tilt at noon.
