Burrier's Six-Point Effort Powers Women's Lax to AWCC Title Game


AURORA, N.Y.--Senior Laurie Burrier scored a pair of goals and assisted on four others to lead the second-seeded Hood College women's lacrosse team to an 11-2 victory over the Wells College Express Saturday in the semifinals of the Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference tournament.

The Blazers (4-8) will take on the top-seeded College of Notre Dame (Md.) Gators in the championship game Sunday at 2 p.m.

Hood scored the first nine goals of the afternoon as seven different Blazers contributed goals in the spurt.

In addition to Burrier, Rachel Loss, Liz Rakowski and Brandy Noel all had multi-goal efforts for Hood. Christa Lundskow and Jen Graham also added single tallies.

Lauren Lieb turned away four shots for her fourth win of the season in goal.

The Blazers will battle the Gators, who were 13-0 winners over Trinity University (D.C.), at 2 p.m. for the AWCC crown in Aurora, N.Y.
