FREDERICK, Md.--Hood College women's basketball head coach Jack Mehl has added three more recruits, Alexis Andrukat, Chloe Scott and Rachel Kessler, to his 2012-13 roster.
Andrukat (pictured top left) is a guard who hails from nearby Smithsburg High School in Washington County. She helped the Leopards capture the Monocacy Valley Athletic League Antietam Conference championship in 2010 and 2011. An all-county honorable mention pick as a freshman and sophomore, Andrukat was picked for the all-county second team as a junior and senior and made the all-MVAL first team last year. Smithsburg won the Pap Draper tournament title three consecutive years and Andrukat landed on the all-tournament team each year. She also played soccer at Smithsburg and received numerous academic accolades, including being inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (2011) as well as participating in the 2012 SkillsUSA Career Pathways Showcase.
Scott (pictured bottom left) is a forward from Frederick High School. The team's leading rebounder in 2010, Scott also ran track for the Cadets. She was a member of Maryland Minds in Motion from 2009-12 and served as the president of Women Excelling Beyond as a senior. Additionally, Scott was a member of the Student Government Association (2009-11) and the National English Honor Society (2010-12).
Kessler (pictured bottom right) is a forward who transferred to Hood from Salisbury University (did not compete at SU). She graduated from Middletown High School in 2011 and earned two varsity letters in basketball and three varsity letters in soccer. Kessler and the Knights captured the Maryland 2A state championship in soccer while the basketball team finished with a record of 21-7 and advanced to the title game. Kessler led the Knights in assists, rebounds and steals and was a second team all-area pick by the Frederick Gazette and an honorable mention choice by the Frederick News-Post. She made the honor roll all four years at Middletown and was a Maryland Distinguished Scholar.
Mehl's other recruits include: guard Arianna Delerme (Susquehanna Township), forward Olivia Hosch (Cushing Academy), guard Alexis Briscoe (Long Reach), forward Shakara Head (Joppatowne) and forward Sarah Marcello (Boiling Springs).
