FREDERICK, Md.--Hood College women's basketball head coach Jack Mehl has announced two of his recruits who will join the Blazer women's basketball family for the 2012-13 season.
Arianna Delerme (pictured right, above) is a guard from Susquehanna Township High School in Harrisburg, Pa., who led her team to a 20-7 overall record last season. A two-time co-captain, she and the Indians advanced to the first round of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state tournament each of the past two years. Also an excellent student, she has earned academic honors since her sophomore year and was awarded the Susquehanna Township Booster Club Scholarship as well as the Commitment to Excellence Award.
Olivia Hosch (pictured right, below) is a forward who graduated from Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass. She was a three-sport athlete who also lettered in volleyball and tennis for the Penguins. Hosch captained the basketball team as a senior and was named team MVP in addition to being recognized on the New England Prep School all-star team. She was the recipient of the Wayne F. Sanborn Award, given to a student who "best demonstrates leadership, sportsmanship and scholarship and who upholds the highest standards of integrity and character both on and off the field." Hosch also received the Vincent V.R. Booth 1923 Award for "personal growth and contribution to the life of Cushing Academy." As a junior, Hosch earned the Bette Davis Award as the top female athlete in the junior class and made the all-tournament team at the Groton/Lawrence Holiday Tournament. Hosch was a member of the Athletic Leadership Program at Cushing and is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society.
Hood finished with a 6-18 overall record in 2011-12 and will be competing in the Middle Atlantic Conferences for the first time in 2012-13.
