Rachel Wiley Ranked Among Division III Leaders in Blocked Shots
FREDERICK, Md.--First-year forward Rachel Wiley of the Hood College women's basketball team is ranked among the nation's leaders in blocked shots in the first NCAA Division III rankings of the 2011-12 season.
Wiley, from Frederick, is the Capital Athletic Conference leader in blocks by a wide margin, rejecting 28 shots in Hood's first nine games (3.1 bpg). That total is good for 11th place among all Division III student-athletes. She has blocked at least two shots in eight of the Blazers' nine games and is already eighth on Hood's single season blocks chart.
Wiley also sits atop the CAC chart in rebounding, hauling in 94 boards on the young season (10.4 rpg), good for 46th in the nation. She has reached double figures in rebounds six times, including a career-best 16-rebound effort in Hood's first win of the season at Goucher College.
Wiley and the Blazers (1-8) have one contest remaining before the holiday break, a nonconference road game at Notre Dame (Md.) University Saturday at 1 p.m.
