Blazer Women Roll to 92-39 Win Over Penn State-York

FREDERICK, Md.--Four Blazers achieved career-highs in scoring as the Hood College women's basketball team (2-8) dominated the Penn State University-York Lions (3-5), 92-39, Monday evening in nonconference action at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School.

Hood scored the first 15 points of the contest and never looked back, cruising to a 25-point advantage by halftime (48-23).

The Blazers continued to overwhelm the Lions in the second half and rolled to their most decisive victory since a 94-30 triumph over Wilson College Jan. 30, 2006.

Virtually every player to get into the game set a career-high in at least one category. Sophomore Jen Willison led all scorers with 32 points, matching the third-highest single-game tally in program history. The 6-0 forward set a school record with 14 field goals, eclipsing the old record of 13 by Rita Willis from the 2003-04 season. She also hauled in 19 rebounds, which is the sixth-highest single-game total ever at Hood.

Freshman Allyson Lethbridge poured in a career-best 26 points on 12-of-22 shooting and recorded five steals. Sophomore Whitney Boyer had a solid all-around game and was close to registering a triple-double with career-highs of 15 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.

Sophomore Christi Valdez reached double figures for the first time in her Blazer career with 10 points and narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Junior Jessica Parrish finished with just two points but contributed a career-best six rebounds and three steals. Classmate Sara Wastler grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds and dished out nine assists while playing all 40 minutes of the contest.

The Blazers return to Capital Athletic Conference play Wednesday at Marymount University. Tip is slated for 6 p.m.
