Blazer Women Drop 98-57 Decision at Christopher Newport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.--Sophomore Jen Willison and freshman Allyson Lethbridge tallied 13 points apiece in a 98-57 nonconference loss to host Christopher Newport University Saturday.

Despite a season-high 57 points for the team, the Blazers were unable to contain the hot shooting of the Captains, who shot 58.2 percent from the field in the tilt. The tandem of Chelsie Schweers and Colandra Rollins combined for 67 of Newport's 98 points as the Captains outscored Hood 64-8 in the paint.

Christopher Newport broke open an 18-11 game with a 13-0 run over a span of just over three minutes and never relinquished the double-figure lead the rest of the way.

Willison connected on 4-of-12 from the field and 5-of-6 from the line while Lethbridge drilled three three-pointers for 13 points in her debut in the blue and grey. Junior Sara Wastler also drained three triples and reached double figures with 11 points. In all Hood connected on 10-of-24 from long range.

The Blazers return to action Monday at Goucher in a nonconference contest. Tip is slated for 6 p.m.
