Willison Registers Double-Double in Loss to Stockton

HARRISONBURG, Va.--Sophomore Jen Willison of the Hood College women's basketball team (0-2) scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds in a 63-38 loss to the Richard Stockton Ospreys Saturday in the consolation final of the Eastern Mennonite University Tournament.

Both teams took several minutes to warm-up offensively but sophomore Whitney Boyer finally got the Blazers on the board at the 16:42 mark with a three-pointer off an assist from Willison. Stockton then ripped off eight straight points to go up 8-3 on an Alyssa Reiter jumper. The lead stretched to double figures on three occasions but the Blazers hung with the Ospreys for the rest of the half and only trailed by six at the break.

But in the second half, the Stockton advantage ballooned to 17 within the first 4:26 and Hood would get no closer the rest of the way.

Willison, who was Hood's lone representative on the all-tournament team, connected on just 2-10 from the floor but nailed 10-15 at the foul line in 27 minutes of work. Boyer contributed nine points while junior Jessica Parrish and freshman Cecelia Davis each netted four points off the bench. Davis also finished with nine rebounds and a block in 16 minutes.

Ashley Hart paced the victors with 15 points off the bench while Lesley Macchiaverna notched a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The Blazers return to action Saturday at Christopher Newport University at  2 p.m.
