Blazer Men Edge Southern Virginia in Hood Tri-Match

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College men's cross country team placed five runners in the top 10 en route to a narrow 25-30 victory over Southern Virginia University Saturday at Hood's campus.
Sophomore William Andrews completed the 5K race with a time of 17:33 to take third overall while senior Faraz Shoai finished fourth in 17:41 and junior Nick Manning came in fifth in 18:07. Rounding out Hood's top five were sophomores Blair Ames (18:22) and Brendan Greenlees (18:24).
Southern Virginia's Jeff White was crowned individual champion with a time of 17:03 and SVU's Casey Mundell was runner-up with a clocking of 17:21.
Villa Julie College also sent three runners to the meet; Joseph Spurrier was the Mustangs' top finisher in 18:19 and placed sixth.
The Blazers will travel to York, Pa., for the 2007 Capital Athletic Conference championship Saturday Nov. 3.
