Men's Cross Country 14th, Women 12th at Dickinson Long-Short Invitational

CARLISLE, Pa.--The Hood College men's cross country team
finished 14th out of 27 teams while the women came in 12th at the
Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational on an unseasonably warm
Saturday afternoon.
The men's squad placed 18th in both the 8100-meter race and the
4000-meter race, while the women's team took 16th in the 6000
meters and 19th in the 4000 meters.
On the long course, sophomore William Andrews was the first Blazer
runner to cross the tape in 29:16, good for 65th overall. Junior
Nick Manning finished five seconds behind Andrews in 29:21 (69th)
and senior Faraz Shoai placed 88th in 30:08.
In the short race, Hood's scorers were Blair Ames (13:40), Corlin
Blakey (14:26) and Steve Delaney (14:35).
On the women's side, junior Danielle Sgro clocked in first for Hood
in the 6000 meters in 26:22 to place 38th, while freshman Lauren
Smith was 50th (27:00) and sophomore Jen Willison finished in
32:58.
In the 4000-meter race, Sara Stiles (19:57), Lisa Blickenstaff
(20:33) and April Penn (21:05) scored for Hood.
Hood has two weeks to prepare for its first of two invitationals,
slated for Saturday Oct. 20 at Heritage Farm Park.
