Sgro, Andrews, Shoai Set Class Records at Don Cathcart Invitational

SALISBURY, Md.--The Hood College men's and women's cross country teams both placed 10th of 13 teams at the Don Cathcart Invitational in a field that contained strong DI and DII programs. Hood bestest Capital Athletic Conference opponents Wesley College and Villa Julie College in the meet hosted by Salisbury University.
Junior Danielle Sgro was the top finisher for the women and set a junior class record (23:57) and posted the third-fastest time ever in Hood history.
Lauren Smith ran the 10th-fastest time ever in 25:07. April Penn, Jen Willison and Katie Thomas rounded out Hood's top five.
Sophomore William Andrews was the top finisher for the men and set a sophomore class record (28:21) by clocking the fifth-fastest time ever in Hood history.
Faraz Shoai set a senior class record of 28:23 and junior Nick Manning ran the ninth-fastest time ever in 28:31. Blair Ames and Corlin Blakey were Hood's fourth and fifth finishers, respectively.
Towson University won the women's team competition and Mt. Union College captured the men's title.
Hood returns to action Oct. 6 at the Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational in Carlisle, Pa.
