WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Hood College men's track and field team competed at the WCU Collegiate Invitational. The non-scoring meet hosted a field of Division II and III schools.
The 4x100 relay team picked up the lone win on the day, combining for a time of 46.86.
Nicolas Aldana (Myersville, Md. / Middletown) led the Blazers in the individual events with a sixth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles. He crossed the line in a time of 16.23. Aldana also placed eighth in the 400 hurdles in 61.40. He qualified for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships with his time in 110 hurdles.
Todd Welch (Gwynn Oak, Md. / Western Tech) had two top-10 finishes, performing well in the 100 dash and 200 dash. His better finish came in the 200, placing seventh in 23.55. In the 100 he missed out on seventh place by .02, running a time of 11.64. Both times were good enough to qualify him for the MAC Championships.
Tyree Wilson (Wilmington, Del. / St. Georges Tech) earned a seventh place finish in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.30, under the MAC qualifiying time. Nick Slawson (Mesa, Ariz. / Mesa) snuck ahead of Aldana in the 400 hurdles with a time of 61.14, good for seventh. Jordan McNeill (Walkersville, Md. / Walkersville) qualified for the MACs and came in 10th in the 200 (23.69).
Justin Cifuentes (Teaneck, N.J. / Teaneck) qualified for the MACs in the 1500 with a time of 4:17.47.
Hood heads to the Mount Multis on Thursday and Friday, hosted by Mount St. Mary's. On Saturday the Blazers will travel to Gettysburg College and compete at the Mason Dixon Invitational
