FREDERICK, Md. - Over 30 members of the Hood College track and field teams volunteered at the Frederick & Carroll County Unified Track and Field Meet at Frederick High School on April 2.
The Unified Team concept was developed by Special Olympics and is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences, Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.
A total of 10 high schools teams from both counties were involved. Members of the Hood College team worked along-side family members and volunteers to provide starters, timers, and field event support.
