Men's Track Adds Four More Recruits for 2011
FREDERICK, Md.--Hood College men's cross country and track and field head coach Brent Ayer has added four more standouts to his 2011 roster.
Ayer and the Blazers will welcome Matthew Dyjack from Arundel
High School in Odenton, Md., Dan Jacobs from Hillsborough High
School in Hillsborough, N.J., Chris Fox from Tuscar
ora High School in Frederick and Skyler Stasiewicz from Middletown
High School in Middletown, Md., this spring.
Dyjack (top) earned four varsity letters in cross country and indoor track and three in outdoor track at Arundel. An honor roll selection all four years, he was also an AP scholar and garnered a certificate of merit. Dyjack was also involved in various other extra-curricular activities at Arundel, including serving as a kick-off mentor for freshmen, a peer mediator and peer helper. He was also a member of the financial committee, the environmental club and the model united nations. Dyjack's older sister, Abby, is rising senior at Hood and two-sport athlete in soccer and lacrosse.
Jacobs (center) was a three-sport athlete for the Raiders,
earning varsity letters in cross country, track and field and
lacrosse. A two-time all-Somerset County and Syland Conference
selection in cross country as a junior and senior, Jacobs was
presented with the Raw Dawg Awards by the coaching staff for
proving himself as the program's toughest runner. His top times
include 16:52 for the 5K, 4:41 for the indoor 1600 meters, 10:10
for the indoor 3200 meters and 2:05
for the indoor 800 meters. An honor roll selection on numerous
occasions, Jacobs also garnered all-conference laurels in lacrosse
and served as the only underclass team captain of the junior
varsity squad.
Fox (bottom) was a four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track for the Titans and captured numerous team awards. As a freshman, he claimed the most outstanding new runner trophy in cross country and followed that up with the most improved athlete award as a sophomore. In 2008, Fox won both the outstanding distance runner award and the unsung leader award. He was also earned an all-Monocacy Valley Athletic League citation in the 4x800 meter relay. Fox top times include 2:11 in the 800 meters, 19:27 in the 5K, 5:05 in the 1600 meter run and 11:15 in the 3200 meter run. A multiple scholar-athlete award recipient, Fox was inducted into the National Honor Society during his junior year.
Stasiewicz competed in cross country and track and field all
four years with the Knights and captained the cross country team as
a senior. An all-area pick in cross country in 2008, Stasiewicz
helped guide the Knights to numerous county and
regional titles during his career. His top times include 17:20 in
th 5K, 4:49 in the mile and 2:06 in the 800 meters. Stasiewicz
graduated with high honors and appeared on the honor roll all four
years.
