Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams Garner Prestigious Honor from USTFCCCA

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College men's and women's track and field teams were both among the elite squads named to the 2008 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic teams, as announced by association officials.
To be nominated for this honor, a track and field team must maintain a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average throughout the academic year. Hood was the only Capital Athletic Conference school to earn this distinction on both the men's and women's side (Salisbury's women's team also made the list). Also of note, Hood's women's squad placed eighth in the nation with a combined 3.481 team GPA.
This marks the second straight year that both of head coach Brent Ayer's squads have been recognized by the USTFCCCA for this remarkable accomplishment. The Blazer track and field squads were elevated to varsity status in the summer of 2006.
