FREDERICK, Md.--Sophomore Blair Ames of the Hood College men's track and field team has been chosen as the Capital Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 23.

Ames won three events Wednesday at the York College Spring Opener and set school records in each event in the process. The native of Royersford, Pa., clocked a time of 2:07.74 in the 800 meters, 4:19.56 in the 1500 meters and was a part of the record-breaking 4x400 relay squad which accumulated a time of 3:37.40. The Blazer foursome of Ames, Ola Komolafe, Ryan Jenkins and Mike Cahill defeated a Spartan squad which earned all-conference honors last spring. 

The Blazers won a total of seven events and finished second to the Spartans at the meet.

Hood returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Battleground Relays hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
