Blazers Take Second at York Quad Meet

YORK, Pa.--The Hood College men's track and field team won seven events and placed second overall at the York College Spring Opener with Goucher College and Columbia Union College Wednesday.
Blair Ames won both the 800 meters (2:07.74) and the 1500 meters (4:19.52), setting a school record in both events. He teamed with Ola Komolafe, Mike Cahill and Ryan Jenkins to win and set a school record in the 4x400 meter relay (3:37.4).
Komolafe took top honors in the 400 meters with a record-setting clocking of 52.20 while William Andrews captured the 5000 meters in 17:14.6.
Hood's field athletes also excelled at the meet. The hammer contingent of Matt Haynes, Robert Lindsay and Jeff Lipinski took first, second and fourth place, respectively. Lindsay also set a school record in the shot put with a toss of 31' 9 3/4". Justin Everett won the triple jump (40' 1 1/4") and set a school record in the process. He now owns all three jump records in the Blazer annals.
The Blazers' next competition is slated for March 28-29 at the University of Mary Washington.
