Blazers Notch School Records at Susquehanna Meet
SELINSGROVE, Pa.--The Hood College track and field team competed in the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University Saturday. The event featured 25 colleges and universities, including a half-dozen Division II programs.
Freshman Ola Komolafe had an impressive outing in his first-ever college meet finishing sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 52.06 seconds, breaking the indoor record set by his brother and teammate, Tomilayo, last week. Komolafe also finished seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 23.26 seconds which ties the fastest time in Hood history, indoors or out.
Tomilayo Komolafe competed in the 400 meters finishing with a time of 54.80. Komolafe also finished the 55 meter dash in 7.20 seconds.
The 4x400 relay team (Ola Komolafe, Tomilayo Komolafe, Mike Cahill and Blair Ames) had an impressive outing, finishing 10th with a time of 3:38.71, setting a new indoor standard and falling just 0.61 seconds off the outdoor record.
Blair Ames set a new record in the mile with a time of 4:56.53 to outpace Steve Delaney's school record and set a new indoor record. Ames also finished the 800 meters in 2:14.01.
Mike Cahill finished with a time of 7.02 in the 55 meter dash for a new indoor record. Cahill also finished the 200 meters in 24.35.
William Andrews set a new indoor record in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:56.56. Andrews also finished the mile in 5:07.17.
Brendan Greenlees ran a 10:08.45 in the 3000 meters to set a personal record.
Jamie Warrick finished 38th in the shot put and set a new record with a throw of 27', 6.5".
Jeff Lipinski competed in the shot put finishing with a throw of 23', 1".
Hood travels to Dickinson College Saturday for the DuCharme Invitational which begins at 10 a.m.
