Ayer Lands Touted Sprinter

FREDERICK, Md.--Head track and field and cross country coach
Brent Ayer is proud to announce the addition of sprinter Olaoluwa
Komolafe to the 2007-08 Hood College track and field squad.
Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, the 5-8, 145-pound Komolafe will
join his older brother, Tomilayo, on the Blazer sprinting
contingent this fall.
"Ola is as fast or faster than anyone we have had in our brief
history," admits Ayer, who founded the Hood cross country program
in 2003 and this past spring, guided the men's and women's track
and field programs through their first varsity campaign. "He will
be a solid addition to our young sprint corps, where he will join
his brother (Tomilayo). He has great work habits and comes from a
substantial high school track program. This is going to be a lot of
fun."
A four-year letterwinner in indoor and outdoor track at Duval High
School in Lanham, Md., Komolafe was part of the 2006 and 2007
indoor state champion 4x200 meter relay squad and ran on the county
champion 4x200 meter relay team in 2006. His personal best
clockings include 50.8 in the 400 meters and 41.05 in the 300 meter
hurdles.
A national merit scholar at Duval, Komolafe is a member of the
National Honor Society and earned the Principal's Award in 2007. He
earned honor roll status all four years and was also a member of
the Spanish National Honor Society.
