YORK, Pa.--The Hood College men's tennis team (3-12, 1-3 CAC) suffered a 9-0 setback to the York College (Pa.) Spartans (7-7, 2-2 CAC) Tuesday in a Capital Athletic Conference match.
At third singles, David Blowe won the first set over Steve Collison, 6-2, but Collison rallied to capture the final two sets, 6-3 and 6-4, to take the match. Mike Hardman gave Joel Trimmer all he could handle at second singles, but came up just short, falling 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
Hood also played the Spartans tough in doubles action, as Colin Reitman and Hardman dropped a narrow 8-6 decision to Tim Mowrer and Colin Jones at first doubles; Garrett Loomer and Phil Yerby lost to Collison and Paul Graci, 8-3, at the No. 2 spot; and David and Andrew Blowe fell to Trimmer and Travis Klein, 8-5, at the third spot.
Hood's next match is slated for Friday against Shepherd University at 3 p.m. at the Baker Park Tennis Courts.
