Tennis Teams Face Tough Competition on Spring Break Trip

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College men's and women's tennis teams faced some stiff competition on their spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C. The Blazers were unable to salvage a victory in seven matches during the week.

The Hood men dropped 9-0 decisions to Scranton, Heidelberg, Villa Julie and Lake Forest.

On the women's side, Stephanie Garrett and Lisa Blickenstaff earned straight-set singles victories against Heidelberg. Blickenstaff also teamed with Christina Rosa to defeat Dawn Neumeyer and Kalani Friend at third doubles, 7-3. But the Blazers came up short against the Berg, falling 6-3. Hood also suffered 9-0 setbacks against Nazareth and Campbellsville.

The Hood women return to action Tuesday at Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference rival Wilson College. The Blazer men join the women's squad Thursday at Catholic University for a Capital Athletic Conference match at 2:30 p.m.
