Men's Tennis Doubles Up Chestnut Hill
FREDERICK, Md.--Tyler Dixon and Moga Nkate teamed up for a doubles victory and then won their singles matches to lead Hood to a 6-3 win over visiting Chestnut Hill Sunday afternoon.
Hood (3-5) began the day by winning two of the three doubles matches. Dixon and Nkate opened with an 8-2 victory over Ryan Karle and Mike Devine at No. 1 doubles, but Chestnut Hill countered as Shane Lesher and Tan Tang edged Greg Schinner and Colin Reitman 8-5 at the second flight.
Kris Reese and Nick Gunther then pulled out a 9-7 victory against Kyle Deriemer and Garrett Senior at the third spot.
Chestnut Hill (1-6) pulled even when Karle swept Reitman 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, but Hood clinched the match by winning at the Nos. 2-5 spots.
Nkate outlasted Lesher 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 at No. 2 and Dixon had no trouble with Devine 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Schinner battled for a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Tang at No. 4 before Carlos Funes swept Deriemer 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5.
Gunther fell to Senior 6-3, 6-4 at No. 6 to close out the afternoon.
Hood closes out its season Friday when it hosts the University of the District of Columbia at 3 p.m.
