Blazer Men Complete Day One of CAC Swimming Championships

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--The Hood College men's swim team sits in sixth place after one day of competition at the 2008 Capital Athletic Conference championships hosted by St. Mary's College.
Senior Jason Kinder qualified for the championship heat of the 500 free and finished eighth with a time of 5:01.14. Kinder also swam the third leg of the 200 free relay (1:38.05) and the backstroke leg of the 400 medley relay (4:04.59), both of which finished seventh overall. Junior Matt Haynes placed sixth in the consolation heat of the 50 free (22.78) and swam the second leg of the 200 free relay. Robert Ennis, A.J. Smith and Kyle Atras also contributed to Hood's relay efforts.
In preliminary action earlier in the day, Atras finished the 500 free in 6:40.96 for 24th place, and Smith was 26th in the 50 free (28.27).
The Blazers tallied 62 points on day one of the championship which resumes Saturday morning with preliminary action at 10 a.m.
