Three More School Records Fall at CAC Swimming Championship

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--The Hood College swimmers set three more school records Saturday on the second day of competition at the 2007 Capital Athletic Conference championship hosted by St. Mary's College.
Jason Kinder lowered his school record in the 100 back and finished fourth in a time of 56.45. Kinder also anchored the record-setting 800 free relay squad which bested the previous mark by over 10 seconds (7:43.25). Stu Kaufman, Matt Caron and Matt Haynes were the three other members of the relay squad, which took seventh in the event.
The women's 800 free relay squad of Amy Kaufman, Erica Hamor, Ashley Garyn and Katie Hitchens bested the school record by over eight seconds and finished sixth in 8:32.16.
Kaufman won the consolation heat of the 400 individual medley, touching the wall in 5:00.70, while Hamor was 14th in the event with a time of 5:10.07.
The women's 200 medley relay team of Katie Reichard, Stephanie Cowen, Marie Caron and Meaghan Held finished eighth with a clocking of 2:30.26.
Both the Hood men and women sit in eighth place in the team competition with one day of events remaining.
The CAC championship wraps up Sunday from the Athletics and Recreation Center.
