Swimmers Compete at Randolph-Macon Invitational

ASHLAND, Va.--The Hood College men's swim team finished second to Virginia Military Institute with 267 points at the two-day Randolph-Macon Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Kyle Atras placed fifth in both the 500 free (6:24.37) and the 100 back (1:24.85) and was 14th in the 100 free (1:08.94).
Chris Moreland came in third in the 100 fly (59.76), sixth in the 100 breast (1:11.44) and fourth in the 200 breast (2:40.37).
Ethan Weidman finished third in the 200 IM (2:28.86) and 12th in the 100 free (58.80).
Andrew Bodine came in fifth in both the 50 free (23.90) and the 100 breast (1:10.32), and was the lone swimmer to contest the 400 IM, coming in at 5:20.07.
In his debut for the Blazers this season, Carlin Rabie took eighth in the 50 free (25.02), fourth in the 100 back (1:11.41) and 10th in the 100 free (57.87).
Matthew Benoit touched the wall ninth in the 50 free (26.57), sixth in the 200 free (2:15.15) and 11th in the 100 free (58.27).
Thomas Williams finished 12th in the 50 free (32.30), ninth in the 100 breast (1:23.72) and sixth in the 200 breast (3:09.69).
Lucas Netter also swam in his first races for Hood, taking 13th in the 50 free (32.35) and 15th in the 100 free (1:10.87).
Additionally, the 400 medley relay squad of Bodine, Moreland, Benoit and Weidman came in second in 4:21.80. Hood also assembled two 200 medley relay teams: Bodine, Moreland, Benoit and Rabie were third in 1:54.21 and the squad of Atras, Williams, Weidman and Netter clocked in at 2:16.68. And the 400 free relay team of Bodine, Moreland, Benoit and Weidman placed third in 3:41.73.
Hood is idle until January 9, 2010, when the Blazers travel to Capital Athletic Conference rival Salisbury University for a 2 p.m. dual meet.
