Raftery '12 named general manager of USL's Reno 1868 FC

RENO, Nev. - Former Hood College men's soccer player Doug Raftery '12 has been named the general manager of Reno 1868 FC of the United Soccer League. 

He moves into the role after serving as the vice president of corporate partnerships for both the Reno Aces (Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks) and Reno 1868 FC. 

After graduation, he spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons as an assistant for the men's program at Hood before moving to the women's side in 2016. Raftery played for the Blazers from 2008-11. After missing his freshman year due to injury, He appeared in 32 matches, making 16 starts. He finished his career with two goals and one assist for five points. 

During that time, he was a member of the Frederick Keys broadcast team and served as the Keys' Director of Sponsorship. He spent two years working for the Eau Claire Express of the collegiate Northwoods Baseball League. During his tenure with the Express, he worked as the team's Director of Broadcasting and Media Sales. Raftery has also called games for the Florence Freedom of the Independent Frontier League and the Rockbridge Rapids of the Valley Baseball League.
