Hood Men Drop 5-1 Decision to Sea Gulls

Jaime Ramirez
SALISBURY, Md.--Senior Carlin Rabie notched his second goal of the season for the Hood College men's soccer team (2-11, 0-5 CAC) in a 5-1 Capital Athletic Conference setback to the Salisbury University Sea Gulls (12-2-1, 6-0-1 CAC) Saturday afternoon.
After Justin Lambert gave the hosts the early lead in the eighth minute, Rabie headed in the equalizer off a free kick from freshman Jaime Ramirez in the 38th minute. Rabie's score represented the first Blazer goal in a CAC match this season. The assist by Ramirez was his team-leading third of the year.
Despite being outshot 19-1 in the first stanza, the Blazers only trailed 2-1 to the top team in the CAC at halftime. Salisbury's Mike Napolitano flipped his shot over Blazer netminder Will Lane with 1:46 to go before intermission.
But the Sea Gulls raced out of the gates in the second half, netting three goals in the first 7:44 to assume a 5-1 advantage. Kyle Sterling pocketed his team-leading 14th score in the first 11 seconds of the frame, while Casey Rector headed in a corner kick 1:42 later and Benjamin Reed registered his eighth marker of the fall in the 53rd minute for the final margin.
Hood was outshot 33-2 on the day. Lane finished with 10 saves for the Blazers.
Hood continues its five-match road swing Tuesday at CAC foe Stevenson University at 3:30 p.m.
